Kenzie

About Kenzie

Meet Kenzie Hi, my name is Kenzie! I am approximately 6-7 years old, and am a lean 90 lbs. I came up from a crowded shelter in California, where I’d landed as a skinny, early-pregnant stray. I have had quite a journey here at HSJC. I went into foster care to have my puppies, and staff and my foster person struggled to put enough weight on me so I could support my pups. I decided I didn’t want puppies once they were born (I rejected them and they became bottle babies), and I came back to the shelter. As I’ve stayed at HSJC getting well (parasites treatment, gaining weight, and I had benign mammary tumors removed), staff has gotten to know me well. I can be slow to trust at first, but I am rather easily won over with tasty treats. Once I know you and trust you, I love to lean on you for pets, and I enjoy having my belly rubbed. I will also sit and offer you my paw when I decide I really like you! Overall I’m a good girl who will likely bond strongly with my family. I am a big, strong dog, and I do pull on my leash walks. I have strong prey drive and need a home free of cats, small animals and birds. I do not like most dogs and would do best as an only dog (no dog parks). I am seeking a home with people experienced or knowledgeable about my breed, with no children under the age of 10 (no idea on my history with young children, best to be safe). Keep in mind that some home owners and renters insurance will not cover you if you have a rottweiler – this is a good thing to check on before inquiring about me! I have been spayed, tested negative for heartworm, am up to date on my DAPP and rabies vaccines, and have been micro-chipped too. My adoption fee is $175 (+ $20 county dog license, if residing within Jefferson County). ADOPTION PROCEDURE: HSJC is currently CLOSED to the public. We are accepting applications for Kenzie (this is NOT the same as a “Petfinder inquiry”). If you are interested in her, please submit one via our website here: https://hsjcwa.org/adopt-a-dog We do not ship animals, and due to COVID and border issues cannot adopt to Canada at this time. If we find an applicant who seems to match Kenzie well, we will contact you to schedule a time for you to meet her at our facility. If you have trouble submitting your application, please send an inquiry and we can email you one!
