Gaston

About Gaston

Check out Gaston! Gaston is a 9-week-old, 10lb male Great Pyrenees & Anatolian Shepherd Mix. Is there a possibility this boy has other breeds making up his DNA, absolutely! Gaston isn’t interested in pedigrees and hopes his new family won’t either! Gaston is a sweet, cuddly little puppy. He would make a great movie-watching friend and he’s particularly interested in watching Beauty and the Beast since it’s all about him! Like his namesake, Gaston is also a ladies man. He seems to prefer the senior, female dog and the human female also. He has to live up to his reputation after all. While Gaston knows he is handsome, he is humble about it. He can be a bit reserved when he first meets new people. He is coming out of his shell every day though and now greets people when they come home and has recently started running to the door with the other dogs to greet people. Gaston is a little bit of a wallflower. He doesn’t run and hide but he casually stands back to observe and takes the lead of the other dogs when encountering new people and situations. His ideal living situation would be a semi-active home. He likes to be around his people and other animals. Unlike his namesake, Gaston has no problem sharing the spotlight and is all too happy to follow the lead of his friends sometimes and other times take on a leadership role. He knows that just like anything in life balance is important! Gaston does well with other dogs. He’s very docile and is prone to rolling on his back to show his belly if he thinks things might be going sideways. He likes to puppy wrestle with his littermate and his older puppy housemate. Gaston also knows how to match energies with older dogs and transitions well from zooming around with his senior husky housemate to lying down in the grass when she needs a break. Gaston does well with dog-savvy cats in his foster home. If the cat runs by him though, puppy chase mode is activated! Gaston never nips, growls, or otherwise tries to hurt the cats though – he simply thinks anything running is engaging in puppy chase. He will walk up and sniff or lick cats, but he’s always gentle and respectful if the cat hisses at him. Gaston has been around teenagers and tweens and does well. He has not tried to nip or bite. Gaston has not been around younger children. He may do well with younger children; however, he has not been through the puppy teething phase yet. Gaston is a very smart little puppy and picks up on acceptable behaviors by watching the older house dogs. He has not been a big barker, but he will use his voice to let you know when he needs something. Gaston is working hard on his potty training. After a few days of adjusting he has not had accidents in his crate overnight and is starting to go to the door when he needs to go potty. He has not had any accidents in the house over the last several days, but he is kept on a pretty regular going outside schedule. He also is beginning to figure out that the magic bell on the door will get you outside, though he’s not quite sure if you’re supposed to hit it or if another dog is supposed to do it for you. Gaston is also very interested in food. He loves food. He will wag his tail when he eats – at every meal, for the entire meal. He is right by your side if you are in the food closet, holding a bag of food, or otherwise might have a snack he wants. He is not rude about his food behavior though; he does not jump or snatch food – he’s just very, very certain you should share with him. Welcome this handsome boy to your family by applying for him today!
