Here is Toto, he is affectionate with his people, super velcro, wicked smart, biddable and very food motivated for training whatever you want in him. He does have basic training under his belt already. His default personality is happy and playful, he loves adventures such as hiking, water play, … walks and off leash running/fetch in a safe area. He would likely do great in a sports or performance home with the right training. He rides well in the car, grooms and does not try to escape his territory. He’s potty trained and has good house manners and settles nicely. He is used to a doggy door and has used potty bells in the past, and is crate trained though may need reconditioning if you plan to use one regularly. He is unsure of small children and avoids them so he needs a home without that stressor and he has lived with cats but tries to herd them so no cats would be best. He can behave around chickens if supervised but would not trust him if left to his own devices. He has had minimal exposure to livestock which was walking around the fairgrounds past horses in stalls and was curious but calm. He walks well on a leash but can be wary of strangers or other dogs if they come at him out on a walk especially larger breeds that seem threatening to him. He alert barks at home and would always let you know if something is amiss but recalls very well. It can take him a little bit to calm down when strangers come to the house but he is fine once he knows there is no threat. His biggest issue is that he tends to get insecure around my older male who is also food motivated and he resource guards when he is hungry or overly stressed. There have been altercations (not serious but still a risk) so that is the reason he needs a home where he will be the only dog, although he would love play-dates with familiar dogs while supervised and no stressors are present. It would be ideal if he was not left home alone much, since he is not used to that and it would be sad for him. Contact us for more information.
