Toby

Toby is a 1-year-old red and white male Border Collie. There is so much more to Toby than his obviously stunning good looks. At 48lbs, Toby is a big, buoyant puppy who loves to snuggle with his person and enjoys doing laps in the big fenced yard at his foster home, as well as playing with his … foster siblings and going for walks. He’ll lean right into you while you brush his thick coat and roll on his back for tummy rubs. Toby is crate trained, uses a dog door, and rides well in the car. He has made excellent progress with basic obedience skills while regularly attending doggy class at the UAF Rescue Ranch. Toby does exhibit a high prey drive, so no cats. A doggy playmate of similar energy would be an added bonus. During his formative months, Toby didn’t receive the mental and physical stimulation and socialization so crucial for this highly intelligent and active breed. Consequently, everything feels like a new experience for Toby; sometimes exciting, but often intimidating. He will require an experienced, patient handler to continue confidence building and socialization. Toby’s ideal home will be a quiet, adults only home that will provide him with plenty of mental and physical stimulation. Applicants with knowledge of and experience with Border Collies will be given preference. To ensure the best opportunity for Toby’s successful lifelong placement, only local applicants will be considered. Our adoption fee helps cover expenses (vaccinations, microchips, spay/neuter, food, housing) for the homeless pets we rescue. UAF does not adopt or ship outside the state of Arizona. To ensure the best fit, UAF conducts a home visit to meet other pets and verify a safe, secure yard. If you have any questions or to adopt a dog an application must submitted.
