Toby is a 3-year-old, neutered male Retriever mix, 73 pounds. He is in a foster home in Houston, Texas and can transport to an approved adopter. Please note, he is physically located in the state of Texas. Toby is very dog friendly and has made friends everywhere he goes. He currently shares a home with a male dog. He will share his toys and won’t take the toy that his friend has, until he moves away from it. He is a little vocal when playing, but it is never in a mean tone. He is not dominant and has great manners with another dog. He loves to go on walks and enjoys his play time with the other dog. He also loves laying around and he really loves to chew on his toys. If you’re having a lazy day, he is perfectly content doing the same thing. However, he needs some physical activity. The first thing he does when getting out of his crate, is to grab his ball to take outside to potty. We have no history with cats. He does share a home with kids 5,11 and 14 years old. He is very patient with the youngest who can be a little rough when giving him a hug. He really loves the attention. Toby does need continued help walking on leash. He tends to pull quite a bit. He is really so excited to get out walking and he wants to check everything out. He is housebroken. He is also crate trained. Using the crate to provide some structure as well as a safe place for unsupervised time. He also really loves enrichment toys in his crate. He does really great in his crate. At night he sometimes sleep in a crate and sometimes sleeps in a bedroom. We do not think he needs another dog in the home, but would do great if there is one. He is very, very sweet and has met a number of strangers and does great. He goes up to everyone for pets. He is very snuggle and listens fairly well. He can be a little vocal at times, which is a really cute sound. When he yawns or is scratching an itch. He is always wagging his tail. If he thinks you are looking in his direction, his tail is moving! He is just so happy. He rides great in the car. He loves to look out the windows at home and prefers to hang out wherever the humans are. Toby is looking for a home who is comfortable providing structure to help him acclimate. He needs a patient family, who understands he may take a few weeks to find his rhythm. He has learned a lot of really great manners in his foster home. We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog’s exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time.
