About Sherry

Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time. Sherry is a 5-year-old spayed female Terrier/Staffordshire mix, 34 lbs. She is in a foster home in San Antonio, TX and can transport to an approved adopter. Please note, she is physically located in the State of Texas and can transport to the city listed. We don’t know much about Sherry’s background. She was brought to a high kill shelter in Texas when we were able to rescue her. She has been in her current foster home for over a year. She is very timid/shy around new people and needs a home that will be very patient with her. She is not mean in any way. She does not seek out affection and will tend to move away from you if you sit down next to her on the couch. She really loves the foster’s niece and will allow some pets from her. After a couple minutes, she exits stage left and finds a new spot to hang out. Again, she is never mean or reactive. Sherry is looking for a home who will accept her for who she is. As you can see from a lot of her pictures, her favorite spot is the couch. Or hiding in a laundry basket! She is more like a cat – she is very quiet and just hangs out. She is around lots of other dogs and has no issues with them. She would do great in a home with a dog who isn’t interested in playing. She again, just wants to hang out. She has not shown any leash reactivity. Okay, if you’re still reading that’s a good sign. Sherry is a wonderful dog, but want to make sure we find the best fit for her. She has met the cat in the home a few times. She didn’t try to chase her and she did not try to initiate a meet and greet. She just walked away each time. Sherry’s foster mom lives on some acreage so is able to take her outside on a long lead. She likes to go on walks and has gained a lot of confidence in her leash walking. Sherry is housebroken and kennel trained. She is kenneled when left unsupervised and has no issues. As she warms up and feels more comfortable, she is spunky while still being relatively calm. She is very quiet and have only heard her bark a handful times. She is very sweet and you can tell she wants affection. It has taken her a few months to feel comfortable sitting on the couch with the humans. Where it took her about a week to play with the dogs. Her ideal home is one that will remain patient and allow her the time to feel comfortable. She is a very sweet dog and we are really hopeful her home is out there looking for her! We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog’s exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. Out-of-town pets are cared for by non-local organizations who can make arrangements for the pet to be transported to your area.
