Rosie

About Rosie

Rosie wants to be your Valentine. Rosie is a very friendly 15 lb female Italian Greyhound who gets along well with the ragtag assembly of iggies and a Jack Russell that lives here with her. She loves meeting new people, although she can be a bit loud about it for the first few minutes if they come to the house. At the dog park or on a walk she doesn’t bat an eye and makes sure she meets all the dogs and their people. This gorgeous girl is all love. She wants to snuggle and will climb onto your chest to be as close as possible. In fact, she will leap into your arms and put her paws around your neck to be carried like a toddler. Rosie has been a quick learner with commands, but she still can’t help but peek onto the kitchen counters to see what may be interesting. If there is something too close to the counter edge she will try to steal it. Rosie likes all toys, she will fetch, play tug of war with up to three other dogs at a time, and enjoys destroying every stuffed animal she can. This sweet girl has had a long road traveled in her almost 2 years. She came into rescue for continuing care and healing from fractures in both her front legs after being accidentally dropped in October 2022. The breaks were immediately repaired using plates and hardware. She has been out of any supportive bandaging for a month and the x-rays show the bones have knitted well. Rosie has been a champion through the process. Excellent not only in her crate but also did not flinch at wearing her E-collar. She is very good in the car whether in a crate or a restraint. Rosie is allowed to roam free in the house and play with others. She is restricted at the dog park from racing with the other dogs and the agility course. Potty training is still a work in progress and she does well when when kept on a strict schedule, but does still have accidents. Rosie is up to date on all vaccinations. She will require a fenced in yard and a home with children 16 years or older, no larger dogs and owners home more often than not. Rosie is being fostered in Locust Grove, VA.
