Onyx

About Onyx

Onyx is a male Black Lab mix, approximate 2 years old and 30lbs. He has neurological vision impairment. He is potty trained for the most part. Onyx will let you know when he has to go but sometimes forgets. He will go on puppy pads in those moments. This mainly happens at night. (This is getting better with the medication and we think will continue to improve, especially after he is neutered). He is crate trained, besides the potty forgetfulness. He is good with other dogs, but barks at white cats (and squirrels so might be the color). He doesn’t mind or pay attention to other colored cats (or squirrels). He is good with kids at parks, unknown in the home. He hasn’t been given the opportunity yet! He know some commands – Sit, and is learning Lay Down. He needs fenced in yard, does not need another dog in the home? He is located in Dayton, OH. He has medium energy level (high/med/low). Onyx is the sweetest, most resilient little dog with a great temperament to match any home. After a long journey, it was discovered that Onyx has some disease in his brain and spine, either from birth or an infection, and deteriorating retinas, causing a bit of wobbles and bumping into things but that doesn’t stop Onyx from being the happiest dog he can be. His favorite things include cuddles, walks, roaming around exploring whatever he can, more cuddles, and plenty of sleep. Onyx’s ideal forever home has a yard he can roam that is fenced in or has plenty of room for a lead, a compassionate family with a consistent schedule, and plenty of walks. Onyx has so much love to give, he will let you know that the moment you meet him! Please fill out an application if you are interested in adopting this dog. We will only set up a meeting with the dog once you have an approved adoption application.
