Miss Katie

Miss Katie is a Shih Tzu, about 12 years old and 13 lbs. She is now fostered in Milton Wi with low activity level. She is friendly with dogs, cats & children. She loves to sleep in the human bed wherever she pleases. She minimal barks, whines or snoring. She is gentle, sweet, carefree, cuddly but … not needy, mostly calm unless there is food involved. “Did you need something, I can’t hear you!” She is deaf but seems to feel every time you move and can smell out her dinner from a mile away! Nothing seems to bother this sweet old girl. She likes being your shadow, getting treats or any food, belly rubs and long afternoon naps. And she doesn’t seem to mind getting carried, or the back pack. Special needs: cataracts/partially blind in one eye, deaf and only 2 teeth left (recently pulled so soft food for a while). She does not appear to be a flight risk but being that she can’t hear you call her, she’s been kept on leash. She is house trained but need to keep an eye on her. She will use a puppy pad if left too long. She has been spayed, housebroken, walks well on-leash, is micro-chipped, UTD on vaccinations and preventatives. Albert’s Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a home visit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $300, ($550 for a pair). WI Dept. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
