Merlin

Merlin is a 10-month-old Great Dane who is currently my foster. He came to me from Cicero Animal control and he was beyond terrified there. He was also quite thin and is adjusting to life with multiple fosters and doing great! I’m not gonna lie, I’ve grown very fond of this sweet boy. He looks very … much like my Fletcher we lost in January. Sometimes, that’s all I see in him is my Fetcher. So it’s unfair to this puppy to constantly be seen as another dog. Merlin needs his own family. He is a great puppy but cannot and I stress, CANNOT live with cats. He would also do best with no small dogs as he plays rough and is super annoying to the ones I am fostering. Merlin does great with other larger dogs. He is never crated and he has proven himself trustworthy in my home by not chewing or getting into anything he shouldn’t have. He is housebroken and for most of the day, a couch potato. Altho he does get the Zoomies and throw his toys around. He currenty shares his day with a 1.5-year-old Doberman and a Golden Retriever of the same age and they play rough at times but can also lay together and share the same blankets. Merlin likes our grandkids he sees on a pretty regular basis that are 4 and 6 years old, however, he can be gentle some days and knock them over other days. Folks interested in adoption must commit to training and have a fenced yard. He is used to me being home most of the time and also having lots of freedom so a home where he will be crated long time frames will not be considered. Merlin is a gentle giant and sweet as can be but he is also very puppy like and will grab your hand and start to chew on it or your shirt etc..all in play. Merlin has been neutered, brought current on all vaccines, on monthly heartworm prevention as well as flea/tick prevention. Adoption radius of 100 miles based on home visit. Adoption fee is $500.
