About Lucy 6296

Golden Girl Lucy is a beautiful 3-year-old golden German Shepherd. She has only been in Foster for a day, and has made great progress. She is from a very rural area and was an outdoor girl. Her owner passed away suddenly and a good Samaritan neighbor knew there was a dog living in the yard so took her in and called the rescue for assistance. So with all that has just happened to Lucy, she was very scared when I received her. It only took about an hour for her to open up and come to me with licks, wagging tail and a paw. She was so relieved to realize she was safe. She is slowly adjusting to indoor life, kitchen tile and hardwood floors. She is still a bit anxious but is very sweet with both me and my husband. One thing for sure, she loves treats, and learned to sit this morning. She is so proud of her sit. She had her vet visit this morning and did fantastic being handled by the vet and techs for all of her vaccinations and things. I have 2 resident small dogs and initial meet and greet went so well that we allowed them all to integrated today. She is watching what they do and learning how things work from them. She needs someone very patient to give her time and space to learn. She is still intact, but her spay has been scheduled.
