Jimmy – FOSTER TO ADOPT

Home Dog Adoption Jimmy - FOSTER TO ADOPT

About Jimmy – FOSTER TO ADOPT

When you have a Misfit with exceptional needs sometimes you need a customized opportunity for Jimmy. Jimmy is a young, healthy, happy Border Collie puppy. So what is so exceptional about him you ask? Well, he’s all that and is deaf as well. Jimmy recently lost his hearing and became quite lost and anxious with the sudden change in his life. His anxiety manifested in extreme behaviors like chasing shadows, barking and twirling. He also had no way to communicate with people. Over the past weeks his foster family and trainer have been helping Jimmy learn how to communicate without sound, how to transfer his anxiety into positive, fun outlets and the best ways to express his seemingly endless, exuberant energy. He has also made an incredible amount of friends at daycare where he visits twice a week. Jimmy has learned signs for “come”, “sit”, “ok” and all done. He is starting to catch on to the differences of play time and time out. He has been learning to spend more time in his crate which he often goes to on his own. Jimmy still has a lot to learn both as a pup and as a hearing impaired herder and we want to be there to guide his family in an effort to avoid stress in the transition to a new home. For this reason, we have decided to change our process and are looking for a Foster to Adopt home for Jimmy. His chosen family will go through the application processes as usual however they will be following the instructions of Misfit Manor Dog Rescue until the adoption is finalized. MMDR will cover all costs of food and care and supply anything that is needed. More about Jimmy: Age: 6 months old. He is a Border Collie. Energy: Jimmy is a very high energy puppy. He loves to play fetch, puzzle games and long walks. He enjoys playing with other energetic, easygoing dogs. He does well at daycare a couple of days a week. He has lots of energy and needs an active family and similar stamina canine friends. Jimmy has not been around children however because he does jump up we feel that he could be ok in a home with children 5 years and up. Travel: He loves to go for a drive and is up for any on leash adventures. Home alone: He does well in his crate for short periods of time without damaging anything. But he is not accustomed to being left for more than a few hours a day. Health: Other than being hearing impaired, Jimmy is a healthy puppy. He is not neutered yet however is awaiting his surgery date.
