Jesse

About Jesse

This sweet lady is Jessie. She came into the care of HOPE Fosters and HOPE Animal Shelter when her family surrendered her to a small rural shelter. She first came to us a little shy and unsure of what was happening in her world. We quickly realized that she had some medical concerns and were able to get her into our partners at Rosemont Vet Clinic. After many visits, x-rays, bloodwork and even a bronchoscopy, Jessie was diagnosed with a collapsed trachea and chronic bronchitis. As you may know, a collapsed trachea causes chronic and intermittent bouts of coughing. These bouts will get worse with exercise, excitement, stress or drinking. We’ve tried a few different treatment plans and have developed one that seems to work the best. Jessie has been a trooper through it all. We estimate her to be between 8-10 years old, a yorkie/shihtuz mix and about 13 lbs. Due to her diagnosis’, she will be on lifetime medications which include a medication three times a day, one medication every other day and the use of an inhaler twice a day. Jessie is very sweet and tends to enjoy the day taking her many dog naps or take a snooze outside in the sunshine. She does alert you to unfamiliar noises as she’s taking her walks around the back yard of her foster home! Although Jessie has been good around other dogs, she doesn’t interact much, so she wouldn’t mind being a one and only. But should she have a dog sibling, as long as they’re respectful and calm, she would be fine. She can be protective over food so it would be best to feed her in her own special spot. She has lived in a house with cats and has done fine (except over food). She loves belly rubs and to lie on the couch next to you. She has been house trained and will go to the door to be let out. If you think you have the heart and room for this sweet, adorable senior girl, please fill out an application. This pet is not located at our shelter.
