Hoffy 5520 is 9 years (D.O.B.: 08/08/2013), Blue & Tan Dapple. He weighs 18 lbs. Hoffy had the most wonderful home for most of his life. He was purchased as puppy to be a companion to another male Dachshund. Everything was fine until recently. For some reason only known by Hoffy and the other dog, … the boys stopped getting along. Minor skirmishes escalated into unprovoked attacks. The family felt they owed it to the older dog to live out his days in peace, so they contacted SCDR and we were happy to help Hoffy find a more neutral home environment. Isn’t Hoffy super cute? His exotic coloring is quite beautiful. His picture does not do him justice. He has those chubby doxie feet and big brown eyes. His ears are long and luxurious. Hoffy is house trained as long as he is taken out often and there is also a dog door access to a secure yard. He is not happy in a crate, and prefers to sleep on the big bed with his people. He is good on a leash and loves long walks. He is very good in the car, and wants to ride shotgun in someone’s lap so he can see out the window. Hoffy gets along fine with the other small dogs in his foster home. However, he prefers the company of a mild-mannered female or to be the only dog in the home. Hoffy has a high prey-drive, and is definitely not safe around cats, other small furry creatures, reptiles, or pet birds. Hoffy is fully vaccinated and is micro-chipped. Hoffy is currently sleeping in his little dog bed in the master bedroom, but he really would love to sleep in the big bed with his people again. Hoffy would be fine in most households, but he needs a family with older children or empty nesters. He is not good with visiting young grandchildren (no one under 8 years old).
