About Hammy – local boy

Say hello to Hammy, an almost 11-month-old Black Lab/Cattle dog mix boy who currently weighs 56 pounds. His current foster family shares “Hammy is a love bug who enjoys being around his people during the day. His big soulful eyes, pouty lower lip, and curly tail complement his muscular frame. He does well with household cats and dogs as well as tween and teen kids. Hammy is cautious when meeting new people and dogs, but warms up quickly. Leash manners are improving with the use of a harness. He communicates with a big-dog bark and growl, which is often misunderstood during introductions. Once trust is gained, he rewards you by being the most loyal companion. He still has bursts of puppy energy and is excited to go on excursions with his family. Hammy would be a great addition to a family familiar with working dogs.” Hammy has a love of squeaky toys, naps, and neck scratches. Not a bad life for a dog to have all that! He loves hiking, car rides, swimming, and playing. He is crate trained (happily sleeping in his crate) and house broken. He is also a smart boy – he knows sit, down, off, place, kennel, touch and come. We really think with love, kindness, and a qualified, certified, trainer at your side, he can overcome any occasional trust issues, and all the wonderful things we listed about him can shine through! He would do best in a suburban or rural home (no apartments, no city living) with a fenced yard so that he can live is best, most comfortable life! All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be.
