Fazio

Please meet our newest Mastino Royalty, Fazio! Fazio is a 1.5-year-old blue male who comes to us as an owner surrender. Originally purchased as a puppy from a disreputable AKC breeder in Michigan, Fazio has struggled with eye issues since he was very young, and he has already required surgeries for … cherry eye, entropion, and an eye ulcer, as well as an umbilical hernia. Due to changes in the owner’s life, the owner is now unable to provide the time Fazio requires. Fazio is undersocialized with both humans and dogs. While he has attended basic training classes, the only person he had ever really spent time with was his former owner. He also had large dog sisters to hang out with in the home, but he never learned how to correctly interact with them since he spent so much time separated while recovering from surgeries. Fazio is also easily excitable, causing him to be reactive on walks. He doesn’t understand how large he is and why people and other dogs may be afraid of him. Though he knows a few obedience commands, his overall manner needs refinement. His former owner began muzzle training him as well, but he is not completely conditioned to wearing it. We will be working with him on his manners and social etiquette, as well as his muzzle training. Fazio is currently being fostered in Illinois, however, transport may be arranged for his perfect home.
