Danny

About Danny

Please read entire bio & adoption criteria before contacting ODR or applying for adoption, thanks! Danny is a 2-year-old Irish cream Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. He’s 9 lbs, good with kids and dogs but no cats. This little dude is super friendly and so sweet! He’s crate trained but could use work on potty/leash training. Danny is healthy, neutered, vaccinated and ready for his forever home! Danny will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds. Like all Dachshunds, Danny is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, Danny needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don’t generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards. Our criteria (aka The Fine Print): Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions if the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer nonsmokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc.). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues. What you get in return with your little rescue: All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They’ll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training. Can you give Utah a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire first and email it to [email protected]. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
