Cairo

About Cairo

Introducing the fabulous Italian brother and sister duo, Cairo and Cleo. They come together as a very precious package deal! In short, the duo could be described as the following anecdote. If this was the world of Wizard of Oz, Cleo would be Toto and Cairo would be the sweet lion who just needs to find his courage. Cleo and Cairo are both about a year old. Cairo is a tall and handsome boy and may be around 100 pounds right now. Cleo is close behind with estimated 70 pounds of pure beauty! Cairo is tall, dark gray and sinfully handsome, with absolutely mesmerizing large gray eyes! Cleo is an all-around black beauty, with brown eyes and only few white hairs on her chest. She looks like a puma and is as nimble as a cat too! Both are good with kibble and love apples. These two cuties are both very healthy eaters! Cleo is the team manager, that’s for sure! She is outgoing, super friendly, and curious. As the leader, she may be demanding from time to time, and has a slight difficulty with separation from her human parent. For example, she will not stay outside for long unless her foster mom is there too. She would rather be at home watching you work, nap or play with her toys. Our baby Cairo is the sweetest thing! But he is also super shy. He is afraid of almost everything he sees for the first time. Cairo relies on his sister, Cleo, for emotional support, and is very submissive to her, as well as anything and everyone else. However, after Cairo gets comfortable in his surroundings, he becomes like a little puppy again, playing and having fun. Happy days are pretty easily achieved. The two love to wake up early for a big breakfast. Throughout the day, they like to take naps and play with their foster sister, Daisy. Play time involves running and chasing each other around, chewing on hard toys, playing tug-of-war games, and splashing in a pool. More naps throughout the day followed by a big dinner. Most of all, they love to be with their human!! Cleo enjoys walks either with just her foster mom or as a trio when foster sister Daisy joins the fun. Cairo prefers to stay home and watch the world from the safety of his couch. He loves to watch the activities happening in the neighborhood. Cairo and Cleo love their chew toys. The pups are working hard on the basics, including learning to sit and shake your hand. They are very well-behaved as they wait for a treat or bath. Cairo is uncertain about a lot of things in the world and needs to gain confidence so he will be more comfortable with the goings-on in everyday life. Cleo is fearless! The pups met with small children once and were very good! They are also naturally very kindhearted and gentle. However, due to their size, a home with older children, or no children, may be a better fit than with small children. Cleo and Cairo have ignored cats that they have come across while in foster care. These two LOVE other dogs! Both Cleo and Cairo love to be with their humans. They are attentive and loyal and make wonderful companions. Both dogs are strong and healthy. Cleo does have a small “cherries” in her eyes, but they do not obstruct her vision or bother her at all. Cleo and Cairo live with their foster mom and foster sister Daisy. The dogs love to play and spend time together. Both Cleo and Cairo are crate trained so they nap in their trusty crates when they are home alone. The pups love to sleep in their special safe space, aka their crates. Cairo is not comfortable with walking out in the big scary world yet. He doesn’t mind the leash, but until he is more confident, walks are a bit overwhelming. Cairo uses gentle nibbling on blankets or other objects as a soothing mechanism. He is easily diverted from it by being presented with a toy he could use instead. Cleo is bit lazy and will relieve herself in places just outside the door, even if the space outside the door is only the garage. She just interprets “go outside” literally to mean just not inside the house. Cleo is also very curious and likes to snoop around in places that foster mom says she does not belong. Both dogs are house trained, with Cleo taking the “in the house” versus “outside the house” directive literally (see above). Both dogs LOVE water! Cairo is much more excited to play in the water and Cleo does better with baths than Cairo, but overall, both take to water very well. The dogs love the attention they get from their foster mom and are very responsive to her discipline and routine. She gives them lots of love and affection but does not let them get away with any shenanigans either. These two gorgeous pups were found roaming the streets all by themselves. Cairo may be still suffering from PTSD from that, and this is why possibly he is not thrilled about taking walks outside of his safe space. No other information is known about the sweet pups. Cleo and Cairo are a bonded pair and their adoption fee is $500 (for both dogs). If you are interested in adopting this duo, please fill out an adoption application. At this time, we are asking for adopters to be in the Sacramento and IMMEDIATE surrounding areas. Thank you so much in advance for understanding!!!
