Check out Atlas! Atlas and her siblings (Andes, Smoky, Alps, Ruby, Everest, Appal, Cascade and Rocky – see separate posts) are our heeler pups. These pups are about 4 weeks old at the beginning of October. They are so sweet and snuggly and their little personalities are starting to come out. They … are playful and feisty too! These babies came to us from their mama, Sierra. Sierra, formerly known as Pigeon, was pregnant in a high kill shelter in Houston, Texas. She (and her unborn babies) were at great risk for euthanasia. She was terrified in that shelter! We rescued her just in time! And surprise to us, she was pregnant! We didn’t know that at the time we rescued her. Sierra surprised us again when she went into labor on September 3! She started out giving birth to 5 puppies and we thought she was done. Her foster had gone out and then came back home only to find 5 more! So here we had 10 beautiful little babies (you will only see 9 listed above – one already has an adoption hold!) Sierra was the best mama ever, but now her puppies are growing and eating on their own so they are ready to find their forever loving families. We would love to adopt them out to families who have heeler experience. If you are ready to add a new best friend to your family, apply to adopt today! Out-of-town pets are cared for by non-local organizations who can make arrangements for the pet to be transported to your area.
