About Wade

“Hi! I’m Wade! I love knitting, playing on my foster mom’s iPad and seeing how many balls I can fit in my mouth at one time! I’m a boxer/shepherd mix, and am likely about 1.5 years old. I came to foster care very underweight, and lacking most training. Since coming to Last Hope, I have regained some of the weight I need, but probably need to gain 5 more lbs to be my best self. My foster mom says I’m about 95% potty trained. I love going outside, and have begun alerting her when I need to go out. I expect I will have some accidents with transition though. I also really enjoy marking things. I think I have finally marked everything in my foster home, but my foster mom says I need to stop! My foster mom is encouraging me to stop with treats, and I love treats, but it’s also just in my nature. Once I mark it as mine though, I don’t need to mark it twice. I’m about 65lbs, but need to be as close to you as possible all the time. In your lap, on your lap, under your arm, under your legs… as close as possible! Because of this, I will help you knit, change the screen on your iPad, control the TV remote, and drink your coffee if you aren’t looking! I will repay you for your kindness in never ending kisses, brushing your hair with my paws, and making sure you know you are loved! My favorite game is fetch! I’m getting really good at returning the ball to where you are, but sometimes get distracted. There are 2 other dogs in my foster house, and I get along great with them. I enjoy playing with them, running zoomies in the backyard, and playing ball with them. I do not know how I feel about cats. I’m also going to need some ongoing training, because I am just learning basic commands. Since I am likely still a puppy, I have a lot to learn. My foster mom says I learn really fast though! If you want to know more about me, or would like to meet me, you can reach my foster mom at [email protected]. Adoption fee is $450 (no checks).” Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal’s background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopters routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog’s personality once they have been able to settle in a home & truly become comfortable. Last Hope, Inc. is an all-volunteer, foster based, no kill rescue! You can see almost all of our dogs on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 11 am – 2 pm at Lakeville PetSmart (located by Hy-Vee just off 160th & Pilot Knob). Policies: You do not have to have a fence to adopt a dog from us, but some dogs will require a fence or acres to play, or an active family who will make sure the dog gets the exercise it needs to be happy. Some dogs do not have the temperament that will do well with young children. The adoption fee is not enough to cover the vet bills. Sales tax of almost 7.25% is also included in the adoption fee that you see. Please consider donating to Last Hope to help us save these animals! Can you foster? By taking a dog or puppies temporarily into your home and then coming to our adoption days to help find them homes, we can save more! If you’re interested, please email our office at [email protected] and give us your contact information and what you would like to foster and someone will get back to you!
