Scout is a small-but-mighty, smart-as-a-whip, funny, very devoted Australian Cattle Dog who is available for adoption. She is 2 years old, she weighs 35 pounds, and she has a soft and easy to care for black and tan coat. Scout is housebroken, crate-trained, and has great house manners. She has also … mastered her basic commands, including stay, recall and sit! Scout rides like a pro in the car, recently having traveled across the country with her foster parents, frequenting dog friendly restaurants along the way. Scout takes a minute to warm up to new people, but once you are her friend, you will be treated as the most special person on the planet every time she sees you. Her entire body is a spasm of excited wiggles and kisses as she tries to get in your lap, no matter what position you are in. Scout can be a little selective when choosing dogs as pals. She likes to be the boss and soak up all of your love herself, and she would really prefer to be the only dog in her new home. Scout does well coexisting with other dogs on leash in social settings though. She has also done okay with some dog-savvy cats as well! Overall, Scout is a high energy gal with a lovely off switch. She loves to play ball and frisbee, and she can catch – she’s quite a superstar! Scout is also known to carry sticks larger than she is and chase bubbles around the yard, bringing lots of smiles and laughter. She enjoys playing with her toys, exploring, hiking, and when she’s ready to rest, she makes a very cuddly companion. The ideal family for this little dynamo is ready to welcome a smart, fearless pup into their lives. She would love to be your walking or jogging partner, and she would excel at nose work, agility or really any activity that exercises both her brain and body. Scout is pretty resilient and she isn’t afraid of thunderstorms, fireworks, fire alarms, vacuums, or lawn mowers! Small children do make her uneasy, and so any children in her new home should be at least 12 years old. Scout’s future family should be ready for a dog with lots of personality.
