About Reginald

“Hi! I am Reginald and I am 10 months old! I’ll let you pick me up like a baby and carry me if you want to, but you’ll have to manage my long legs if you do. Those long legs mean I’m super graceful as I trot around the yard right past the ball you just threw. Not my fault though! I’ve spent a good chunk of my young life in boarding playing with other dogs, and I haven’t yet had many toys of my own to play with so I’m still learning! I did learn that I absolutely love chewing on sticks. If I can chew on it, it’s an instant winner in my book. But I won’t chew on everything -I’m super respectful of what’s yours. Just let me know what is off-limits because I am naturally curious and love exploring. Grass, stray leaves, and sticks are fair game, though! While I’m very respectful of your things, one thing I’m not always respectful of is personal space. That is because I am a very loving dog. When I’m ready to snuggle, my favorite spot to nap (if I can squeeze in) is curled around you on the couch or with my head on your lap. No matter where you go I’ll always be right by your side, so you never need to worry about feeling lonely if you’ve got me! I’d even love sleep next to you if you’d let me, but as long as you put something soft beside your bed I’ll be just fine. My foster parents don’t think I’ve had many comforts in life before now because I make sure to seize every opportunity possible to lay on something soft. I’m highly food motivated making it easy for me to learn new commands, but that doesn’t mean that I’ll be in your face the entire time you’re eating! After about 30 seconds I’ll figure out you’re not sharing and go mind my own business. Just another one of the many ways that I’m a good boy. I’ll even sit still while you wipe my paws if I’ve stepped in a puddle! When I’m not staring into your soul with my big, brown eyes (trying to find out what in the world you think is more important than belly rubs??), I am ready to play! I’ve lived with multiple dogs almost my whole life, so I’ve recently learned I do need to be in a home with at least one other dog to play with (or alternatively very regular doggy daycare) in order to be happy. When I’m able to play with other dogs on a regular basis, I will walk perfectly in my harness. But if I do not get to play with a puppy pal, we’ll spend our whole walk trying to introduce ourselves to any dog we can find. Speaking of things I am perfect at – I am fully potty trained and crate trained! However, sometimes I need a treat or toy to tell me when it’s time to go inside. I let you know I have to go potty by waiting at the door. If you have room for a goofy cuddle bug in your family who’s as polite as can be, fill out an application and come and meet me!” To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application. It doesn’t obligate you, but it is the first step. We don’t get to all of the inquiries but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue! Our dogs are fostered in Texas but available for adoption in the Pacific Northwest… with stops in – Lacey, WA, Tukwila, WA, and Portland, OR. These dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. Our out of state adoption fee is $550 for adults and $650 for puppies. This fee includes: age-appropriate vaccinations, up to date heart-worm and flea preventative, heart-worm test if over 6 months, insurance for 30 days, microchip with registration, health certificate, and transport costs. As a Saving Hope direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call. The adoption application and fee would be finalized prior to transport. Out-of-town pets are cared for by non-local organizations who can make arrangements for the pet to be transported to your area.
