Poncho

About Poncho

Poncho is with Rat Terrier Rescue Canada. Please note that we are unable to adopt outside of Canada. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please submit an application. Those who submit an application will be considered first and your inquiry may not even be seen until after we have stopped accepting applications. All our foster dogs are in private foster homes. The foster parents have written the bios you will read with what they know about the dog. Please read the bios carefully and ensure they are a fit for your household. Thank you. Fostered in Chatham, Poncho is a 3-year-old male terrier mix who weighs in at 22 pounds of sweetness & love. He is up to date on all vetting. He is extremely well behaved, in fact, probably one of the best behaved dogs who has ever allowed me the pleasure of his company. Poncho recently became a Canadian boy after arriving here from Louisiana and has been through a lot. If he could only talk! Poncho is very timid when first meeting new people but warms up quickly. He is very loyal & attached to his person so requires some confidence building. He loves being outside in the fenced yard and is up for adventures as long as you are there to make him feel safe. He loves an ear scratch, belly rubs, play, and hearing you tell him he’s a “good boy”. Those words will activate a furious tail wag. Poncho is good with other dogs but wouldn’t mind being an only dog. Oh and he loves his fosters cats and shares a bed from time to time. He will require a fenced in yard and a quiet environment. He would be considered a flight risk if scared. Poncho has been good with older children so 7 and up is ideal. Poncho is crate trained and will use it on his own as his safe place. He can be left out and is not destructive in the home. He is also potty trained. He is very food motivated and would prefer people food to his own kibble lol. Poncho is a precious little guy and anyone would be blessed to have him as a family member.
