Fostered in Chatham, Poncho is a 3-year-old male terrier mix who weighs in at 22 pounds of sweetness & love. He is up to date on all vetting. He is extremely well behaved, in fact, probably one of the best behaved dogs who has ever allowed me the pleasure of his company. Poncho recently became a Canadian boy after arriving here from Louisiana and has been through a lot. If he could only talk! Poncho is very timid when first meeting new people but warms up quickly. He is very loyal & attached to his person so requires some confidence building. He loves being outside in the fenced yard and is up for adventures as long as you are there to make him feel safe. He loves an ear scratch, belly rubs, play, and hearing you tell him he’s a “good boy”. Those words will activate a furious tail wag. Poncho is good with other dogs but wouldn’t mind being an only dog. Oh and he loves his fosters cats and shares a bed from time to time. He will require a fenced in yard and a quiet environment. He would be considered a flight risk if scared. Poncho has been good with older children so 7 and up is ideal. Poncho is crate trained and will use it on his own as his safe place. He can be left out and is not destructive in the home. He is also potty trained. He is very food motivated and would prefer people food to his own kibble lol. Poncho is a precious little guy and anyone would be blessed to have him as a family member. Rat Terrier Rescue Canada adoption fees: Puppies under 1 year – $775; Young adult 1 year to 5 years – $650; Adults 6 years to 9 years – $575; Seniors 10+ – $325. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter. *Excluding unaltered puppies under a year. The adoption fee also includes, at a minimum, age-appropriate vaccinations, de-worming, I.D. tag and microchip insertion. We gratefully accept any amount above the adoption fee as a donation used to support our mission to save as many dogs as possible.
