Say hello to Peter! “Hi, I’m Peter! I am a 6-month-old Great Pyrenees. I was rescued with 6 of my siblings from a puppy mill. Because of this I can be a bit shy at first but I am learning what love is in my foster home! Here is what my foster has to say about me: ‘Peter has been a delight to … foster! What a charmer. He is very affectionate, loves to be petted and truly enjoys being with people. He has an overall calm demeanor for a pup yet is happy to be silly and playful. He is so eager to please and so willing to fit in. Housetraining has come along nicely with confinement and/or watchful eyes. He’s not been allowed to roam the house unsupervised yet. He did really well being bathed and groomed. He’s eager to leash up and walks well on a leash. Peter loves to play outside and loves to play snowplow in the snow. He plays beautifully in a huge fenced area with my 2 large older well-adjusted non-reactive friendly dogs. He has not been around children. He’s 50 lbs and will get bigger. Prior to being rescued, Peter had only lived in a pen with his littermates and others of his breed. Hence, he lacks confidence in new situations and with new people. He is not fearful, he just needs a minute to digest and accept. Peter learned to stand his ground in order to eat. Hence, he will not allow other dogs near his food bowl. Happy to share toys and such, not his food. I can pet him, reach in his bowl while he’s eating without reaction. Peter is so very eager to learn and has great potential yet he is clueless. He had lived in a vacuum prior to being rescued.
