Penny

About Penny

Penny is a sweet girl who is very loved but unfortunately, is looking for a new home due to her mom’s current work schedule. Penny is believed to be two years old and is roughly 45 lbs. She seems to be full-grown and will likely not get any bigger. While we cannot confirm her breed without a DNA test, she is believed to be a lab mix. While we do not have much information on Penny’s background we know she was found on the side of the road in ATX by a vet tech who brought her to work and that is where Penny’s current owner met and fell in love with her. As much as Penny’s mom adores her she doesn’t have the time that Penny deserves, as she has a very hectic schedule. Due to this, Penny is either in a cage at the clinic or outside at home. When Penny was first brought home and introduced to the family dog (a small male terrier mix) it took a while for Penny to accept him, and she has shown signs of being dog selective with other coworkers’ dogs as well. She does have an issue with resource guarding her food, but her mom has been working on her with that and she has gotten better but will still need more training. She has not been a big fan of their outdoor cat and does try to chase him if he gets too close. She has been able to jump their 4-foot high wire fence so and will need a much taller fence, and or someone to monitor her while she is outside. She has done really well with her mom’s nieces and nephews ranging from ages 1-14. She does know how to sit, stay, go to bed, and is learning “shake”! While Penny is a very sweet girl, she would benefit from an active owner who is willing to work with her on some of the basics, and since she is known to bit dog selective at times, we would recommend a home without another dog since she would not be able to meet them ahead of time. However, Penny should NOT be considered aggressive, as she has gotten along with dogs before. Requirements: -No dogs/cats – Fenced yard (5ft tall+) Penny is vaccinated, dewormed, chipped, spayed/neutered, and hw neg.
