Olive

Olive is fast, quick-witted and endowed with supreme intelligence. She understands quickly and knows what to do. She loves treats but even more so her frizbee! Olive is active, very active! She will need to spend her energy regularly. Her breed says so! She loves to play! With her canine friends or … with humans! She’ll steal your slippers/socks and walk around the house to be chased! Anything just to play! Olive must get used to her new environment and her new human(s). Once she trusts you, this precious dog will give you her heart and soul. Olive will not be able to live with young children. Teenagers will need to have experience with large dogs. Ideally Olive would be better with a couple or a single master, alone or with another canine companion to play with. No cats or other small animals, as this girl has a highly developed predatory instinct. It will have to be managed. If you like detection sports, Olive would be a perfect candidate! She absolutely loves to sniff! Olive has some flaws that still need work. She does resource protection, but it is managed if fed in her crate and if introduced to other dogs gently. It will take a little time before she lets you brush her; she needs to trust you first. Nails are very hard but with time and patience, she might give in especially with treats. She is insecure to new humans and other distractions on a leash, bicycles, humans, dogs and cars. But she is working very hard to overcome this. She has already improved tremendously. She walks very well on a leash. She is a dominant dog, so she needs to be in control of her environment by leading the way. We did not work on letting her free yet so don’t know about her recall. Olive is used to the crate but does love to sleep with us on her pillow. Olive needs a strong iron fist, but a small velvet glove once trust is established. If you adopt Olive, you adopt the intelligence and speed of mind of an amazing dog that will give you her soul!
