In January a young lady in a neighboring county became very … concerned about the safety of a female dog that was roaming freely in her area. The dog was almost struck by a car a number of times. It should come as no surprise that this young lady took compassion upon this dog as compassion towards animals is a trait that her parents, who also foster for SoCo Rescue, helped instill in her. The young lady was able to secure the stray dog and took her to her parent’s home for safekeeping while they searched for her owner. The family did find out who owned the dog and that had also moved away and simply left their dog behind. They also discovered that “Lady D”, as the family named her, was only 10 months old and pregnant. On Feb 20, Lady D delivered 12 puppies, of which 10 survived. At the time of this posting, four of Lady D’s pups have been adopted and Lady D, herself, has found a new home – right there with the family that saved her and her babies lives! The family has already provided proper vet care for Lady D and will be having her spay soon. All of Lady D’s pups have become very accustomed to being around and interacting with people. Each pup may have its own individual look, but they all have the same very friendly, very playful personality. They’ve received 2/3 of their first year “puppy” vaccines, rabies vaccination, been de-wormed and treated against parasites at proper intervals and started on their monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Adopters must agree to have their pup spay/neutered once it reaches 6 months of age and supply SoCo Rescue with verification of such. The puppies will require all of their basic training.
