Medical issues: None. Breed: Hound/Pointer Mix. Colour: Tri Colour. Neck size (for collar): Medium. Crate size recommended: Large. Good with women: yes. Good with men: yes. Good with kids: yes, he is great with kids but is weary of visitors that he does not know. 10+ recommended, or a home where new visitors/friends are frequently coming through the home. Good with other dogs: Yes, tested with both male and female dogs. Good with cats: Yes, he is currently living with a cat and a hamster! House trained: Yes, he knows the word “potty” and will run to the backdoor to go to the bathroom when we say it. Crate trained: He is very scared of the crate. His foster does not crate him when they leave the home as he is non-destructive and well-mannered. Energy level: Medium/High. Can be handled/touched: Yes. Barker: Very little. Flight risk: No. Food aggressive: No. Current food: Purina dog chow. Walks on leash: Yes. Leash reactive to people or dogs: No. Rides well in car: Yes. Destructive: No. Needs a home with a yard: yes. Needs a home with another dog: No. Can live in an apartment: no. History: Mister Hank was sadly surrendered to the shelter due to lack of time. His previous owner sadly took on more animals than they could handle and claimed they were too busy for this poor boy. Foster comments: Mister Hank is very smart and picked up obedience training within minutes. He has learned “down, leave it, stay, look at me, quiet and off”. He is very eager to please and is so smart. He would be a perfect candidate for higher level training! He is a wonderful dog who loves the kids and wants to be with us all the time. He likes to play “go get it” with treats (we throw them back and forth and he runs back and forth to get them). He lets us touch his legs, claws, and teeth if we need to. He doesn’t love baths but will let you give him one. Mister Hank is sadly very insecure and nervous when new visitors that he has not met before enter his home. He will need an adopter that is willing to work on confidence-boosting training and help him overcome his insecurities. A quieter home that does not have new visitors constantly frequenting the home will be best for him.
