Mantis

About Mantis

Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within three days of applying. Momma Mantis was brought in originally back in 2019 and sat in our kennel for what felt like forever. She was adopted out… but brought back to us after being in her home for two years. Unfortunately Mantis decided she no longer wanted to be in a home with a doggy sibling – so we’re now back on the hunt for a final forever home where she can be the only child and get all the love and attention she deserves!!!She does ok with other dogs outside of a home but she does tend to do some extreme resource guarding of her toys around other dogs. With some work, she may be able to overcome this or if she is kept separate from other dogs while playing with toys she may be ok. Mantis came in with her puppy back in 2019. She has some old scars and it was clear she has been bred more than once. Despite that she is a high energy-happy-silly-fun girl and being in a cage every day was pretty hard on her the first time around, so we’re hoping to get her back in a home as soon as possible. What she needs is a yard to play and and a family to love her (and maybe throw a tennis ball for her too?). She is such a kind soul and her spirited energy will be sure to put a smile on your face. She’s around 65 pounds, up to date on all of her vaccinations, spayed, heartworm and fecal negative, micro-chipped and getting lots of TLC!! She is a little shy and unsure of people at first (who can blame her with all she has been through) but once she warms up she loves to run around, play and hangout with her favorite people. She also loves giving kisses and hugs. She loves her toys so much that she doesn’t want to share them with any other animal so she will have to be the only pet in the house. She would also do best in a home with no kids. Mantis has been back in a kennel for a year now. We need to get her out now!!! She is currently located in Chicago’s southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within three days of applying. Adoption fee is $250 (includes spay, microchip, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine, Heartworm and fecal negative, and general wellness which includes dewormer and flea/tick prevention).
