Ladybug

About Ladybug

This painted puppy is Ladybug or “Lady” for short. She’s a beautiful German Shorthair Pointer mix who at 7 months old and 45 lbs is always the center of fun in her foster’s home! Ladybug currently resides with 3 children (over 12) and their family heeler mix, Terry. She has learned what love is in her home after being found as a stray at only 4 months old and ending up in the County shelter. Lady’s family has worked with her daily to enrich her life and give her the exercise and social time she requires. In recent weeks Lady was diagnosed with a rare condition (in dogs and people) called Diabetes Insipidus. She had been drinking excessive amounts of water and frequently having accidents in the house. Initially we thought it was a UTI but as it turns out, she’s even more special than we originally knew; she had DI. Lady’s DI requires her to stay on a synthetic hormone known as desmopressin. She gets 2 pills a day, morning and night and this has proven to have solved her woes. She now drinks a normal amount of water and her urine is concentrated. We’ve learned a lot about her condition and we’re aware of the responsibility that medicating a dog 2x/day comes with. We see her value, passion for life and the joy she brings to those around her and we know that the right person or family will see this in her too! Lady has wonderful recall, she is eager to please and lives for commands and challenges. Her foster family has built her an obstacle course which she has excelled in and although she plays hard, she rests even harder and is balanced in temperament and energy. A family with older children would be ideal as this girl is a big puppy who is still learning her boundaries and size. We estimate her to top out between 55-60 pounds. Lady loves her dog friends and has never met a stranger. She is the epitome of man’s best friend, and we look forward to sharing that love with her future family.
