Krys

About Krys

Krys sat in a shelter for 4 months waiting for his people to come for him. At only about 8-12 months old, he was in a shelter for almost half of his short life that is not where a puppy belongs! As you can imagine, Krys’ mental health began to deteriorate and he started being reactive in his kennel. Due to his behavior changes, he was scheduled to be euthanized, a puppy, euthanized! The workers at the shelter didn’t want that to happen so they started reaching out far and wide to rescues and we responded. With only hours to spare, Krys was brought to us! The amazing trainers at Premier K9 Center of Minnesota stepped up and worked with Krys to teach him how to be the very best version of himself! This is what his trainer had to say. Krys came to us a very happy and playful boy, but with very little clue as to how he should “dog”. Because of this lack of direction Krys would nip and try to bite at trainers until he was able to build trust with them. Luckily, Krys is extremely smart and caught on quick! Through training Krys has learned many basic commands, including heeling and walking nicely on leash, “sit”, “stay”, “down”, “place”, and many more. He has grooming training, and also advanced training off leash! It only took a matter of a few days before he figured out exactly what we wanted from him and he gave it! Aside from commands and most importantly, he learned how to regulate his puppy energy, gained impulse control, and learned to feel confident in many different environments. Krys wants to please and strives to make his humans happy! Krys is great with other dogs; he loves to play rough and wrestle around, but he also knows how to tone it down with proper guidance from a strong owner. He is also great with cats! Krys will thrive in a home without small children (children over 12 is ideal). He has a great temperament but can be high energy if left to his own devices. He would do best with a strong owner who knows how to be an effective leader. Although Krys is very friendly and loving, without a leader, Krys could regress back to his older behaviors (biting and nipping at handlers). With clear direction and boundaries, Krys is a great dog and will make a true companion. We also feel he would do best in a home with a young, confident, well behaved resident dog to help him continue learning and following their lead! Krys is fully vetted and ready to find his forever!
