Frank

About Frank

Written by his foster mom: Frank was an owner surrender to Mason County Animal Control in Michigan when he was two years old. While we don’t know the circumstances surrounding his surrender, we do know that Frank deserves a good home. At Animal Control, Frank was a wild child. He was never still, jumping around his cage nearly 24 hours a day. Unfortunately, this behavior prevented Frank from being adopted for nearly 6 months. Placing Frank in a foster home has allowed us to discover his personality and his needs that we would have never seen due to his hyperactivity in the shelter. Frank is extremely intelligent and food motivated – mastering commands in less than a day so long as treats are involved. In the past month, he has learnt “sit”, “down”, “stay” and “shake”. He enjoys meeting other dogs at the dog park, long walks on the beach, playing with squeaky toys, running in enclosed spaces and chasing sticks and balls. He equally enjoys relaxing at home, including long naps in the sun, never-ending belly rubs and cuddling with his foster parents on the couch. Frank has been neutered and micro-chipped. The vet tells us he is a very healthy boy. He’s athletic and strong, but he hasn’t yet mastered walking on a leash or recall when there are distractions around. Therefore, Frank would do best in a home with a fenced yard and owners who will not only work with him to continue his training but also have time to give him the exercise he requires daily. Frank also suffers from separation anxiety, likely due to his long stay at Animal Control. If you’re interested in Frank, please reach out.
