About Etta James

Etta is the sweetest little dog and happiest when she is with her humans. She only weighs about 5 lbs. We don’t know her history, but assume she came from a less than desirable situation since she was a dumping case. She’s very shy at first meeting but warms up quickly if she detects a friendly voice and lap. She hasn’t shown any signs of aggression and has never tried to nip or bite even when her foster trims her nails. She loves to snuggle in blankets or a soft dog bed. Her favorite spot to nap in her foster home is on top of the couch pillows on a warm blanket. She loves to chew on rawhide sticks and likes her walks outside on a leash with her foster siblings. She does better with dogs closer to her size. We’re not sure how she is with cats or small children. Because of her tiny size, she would do best in a household with no children or older kids who will be gentle with her. She has the cutest wiggle when she trots around the house and her curly tail wags her whole body when she’s happy. She hops on her hind legs when greeting her humans and her smile will melt your heart. Etta would be a perfect apartment dog as she uses a litter box and doesn’t bark much. No yard needed, but she will use a doggy door if a fenced yard is available. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night, but the door is left open so she can get to her litter box. She gets nervous on car rides unless she’s in her crate, which is safer for her anyway. Her perfect owner would be retired or someone who works from home and/or has another pet she gets along with as she prefers not to be left alone. If someone wants big love but doesn’t have room for a big pet, Etta is your gal. At Laramie Animal Welfare Society, the first step to adoption is completing an adoption application. Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by our adoption team which typically takes up to 7 days. Keep in mind, the kitten/cat you’re interested in when applying may be adopted and no longer available by the time your application is approved. We do not place animals on hold. Pending approval, your application is valid for 6 months. Also pending approval, you will receive contact information, so that you may inquire about the personalities of specific animals. Due to COVID-19, we are highly encouraging foster homes and adopters to speak with one another via phone or video chat to limit in-person contact. If meeting in person at a foster home or at our adoption center, everyone is encouraged to wear masks and socially distance. Adoptions for individual animals will occur by private adoption appointment. Because we are 100% foster-based, appointments are scheduled pending staff, foster home, and vetting schedules. Should you want to proceed with the adoption, a brief appointment will occur at our adoption center to sign adoption paperwork, receive medical records, and pay the adoption fee. Dog/Puppy applications – Because of the large volume of dog/puppy applications we are receiving these applications may take longer to process, please be patient. We do not do first come first serve but we place the dog/puppy in the best suited home. If you have questions about the Dog/Puppy process please email [email protected].
