Charlton

About Charlton

“Hi I’m Charlton! I’m an energetic dog and would be perfect for someone who loves to be active or has a big yard so I can run. I absolutely love playing fetch and tug! I learn very quickly with treats! I’ve learned how to sit and wait. And I’m learning how to lie down and leave it. I’m very comfortable in my crate and I can sleep through the night and don’t cry at all. I also rarely bark unless I hear another dog or if something scares me. I’m still getting used to human touch since I grew up in the shelter, so I may mouth you if I get excited, or if you grab my collar. I’m just not used to being grabbed, but I’m doing so much better already with this! I tend to annoy the older dogs I’m staying with, only because I really want to play and they aren’t big on playing. So I would do well with a younger dog who is okay with playing rough! I’m also not recommended to be around cats right now, as I sometimes want to play with them and chase them. Kids are cool but I like when they are older, I’m great with the 4-year-old I’m around now, but there is some worry of knocking her over when I get too hyper. I’m looking for my permanent home with someone who is patient enough to train me, teach me and exercise me. If you’re able to do that, I will be the sweetest, happiest dog! I love to cuddle and will follow you everywhere!” Charlton is an 8-month-old Whippet/Husky mix who has been dumped at the shelter by two of his previous owners. He needs a family willing to show him not every family is going to give up on his puppy tendencies. He is dog friendly, house and crate trained. To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application. It doesn’t obligate you, but it is the first step. We don’t get to all of the inquiries but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue! Our dogs are fostered in Texas but available for adoption in the Pacific Northwest… with stops in – Lacey, WA, Tukwila, WA, and Portland, OR. These dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. Our out of state adoption fee is $550 for adults and $650 for puppies. This fee includes: age-appropriate vaccinations, up to date heart-worm and flea preventative, heart-worm test if over 6 months, insurance for 30 days, microchip with registration, health certificate, and transport costs. As a Saving Hope direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call. The adoption application and fee would be finalized prior to transport. Out-of-town pets are cared for by non-local organizations who can make arrangements for the pet to be transported to your area.
