Living out in the country on property with a lots of dogs, Butch was actually chained to a tree for most of his life – three years. Our CA rescue gal saw him when picking up some other dogs and knew she had to save him! Remarkably, he’s doing really well in a home. Things are new for him. He started with our CA foster, and arrived in our WA foster home – he’s learning what it means to be a real dog. Butch is a sweet boy, a little shy, but again, lots of new experiences. He’s only 30 pounds. We don’t know how he is with smaller children, so an adult home or teen kids would be best. He is being fostered with a dog savvy cat, and is curious, but has not shown any reactivity. We think he will need a patient home – giving him time to blossom. He’s improving daily and the foster says he’s very sweet. He is crate trained and because he needed some house breaking reminder, the foster was crating him at night. He is now sleeping in the kitchen with a baby gate, and no accidents! He loves his foster mom and would enjoy being a big lap dog. Butch is a little fearful of new people and noises – again, he was chained to a tree. So he’s gonna need some slow introductions to new things. Adoptions take place in Stanwood. Butch is ready to go to his forever home. All Save-A-Mutt dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped and have started or completed their vaccines. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Many rescue dogs need patience when transitioning to a new home. Our foster homes try to socialize each dog with other dogs, cats, kids and even livestock. We have made recommendations on their best home placement based on our foster home information. We think he would benefit from training. Adoption fee is $175. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3. Please note, we have approximately a 300-mile adoption radius – Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, so once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA.
