Alpine

Check out Alpine, or Al as his foster home also calls him. This striking boy is a White Shepherd mix about 1 year old and 55-60 pounds. He just arrived so we are getting to know him more, but so far we know he will need an active home as this boy isn’t a lounge around all day type of kiddo. He … absolutely adores affection from his humans and is the rare type of dog that even enjoys a good hug. He is currently living with two kitties and would be fine sharing a home with a dog savvy cat(s). He can be a little in their space but isn’t mean. He is also fostered with two other dogs and doing well. He can be a pretty rough/mouthy player so any other dog in his foster home will either need to like to play that way or be confident enough to correct him to help him learn a better play style (he does seem to take correction from the resident dogs well). His favorite game is keep away and chase with the other young male in his foster home. For the safety of Al no 4 foot fences with be considered for adoption, an apartment setting maybe considered if he can be given tons of exercise daily. Alpine doesn’t seem to have had a great first year of life so almost all experiences are new to him. He can be a little unsure of new scenarios but quickly gains his footing, and is very treat motivated which has helped him learn things like those scary stairs quickly. For now a home with no young kids will be needed while Alpine learns some manners but in the future, with training, he could be expected to be fine with children. His forever home will need to be ready to give him all the training and manners to go from a young Shepherd that hasn’t had anyone in his corner yet to a loved family member.
