“Hi, my name is Rick and I weigh about 15 pounds and I’m a 1-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix. I am a mixed bundle of love, play and fun. My foster family keeps telling me my personality is showing through more and more every few days. They tell me I’m smart because I sit for treats. They also … call me an attention hog, which I not a hog. I’m a dog. I was found wandering a rural road with my friend, Nick. I was pretty scared, but that’s because I was in pain. When they found me, I wasn’t really using my left front leg. The vet took some pictures and found out my shoulder was dislocated and my pelvis was fractured. He said that shoulders are hard to repair so I am going to learn how to be a tripod soon. They say my pelvis will heal while I recover from surgery so I’m ok with that. I love kids and other dogs. I’m not sure how I am with cats since I’ve not been around one in quite some time. I love playing with toys and can amuse myself for hours, but at the end of a hard day of eating, playing, and sleeping, I just want to lay on the sofa with someone and be loved on, scratched, hugged and rubbed. I love it here at my foster family because they have friends and other family members that come over just to hug me, hold me and put me to sleep in their arms.” Due to the number of introductions/questions received (hundreds daily) we ask you submit an application. The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue’s vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. 2022 Adoption Fee Scale for non-benefactor animals: Puppies under 12 months – $350; Dogs over 12 months – $250. All of our puppies live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it’s the perfect match! Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels.
