She is an amazing adventure companion who loves long car rides, big hikes and splashing in the water. She is a great athlete and a pro at catching a ball or frisbee. Margo loves belly rubs and will often offer you her paw to hold. Once she gets to know you she will love you forever and greet you with excited squeaks and butt wiggles. She is a special dog who has a strong protective nature and needs to be the only animal in the home. She does great with other dogs in neutral spaces such as trails, dog parks and has gone to daycare throughout her life with no issues. She prefers the company of humans to other dogs. Margo is a 3 1/2-year-old, Border Collie-Australian Shepherd. She has been spayed, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. She is currently in Tucson, AZ but I am willing to get her anywhere she needs to thrive. I made the hard decision to rehome Margo about 8 months ago. At the time I found a family friend who told me she would foster/potentially adopt Margo. The foster was very uncommunicative about the situation, but said she was leaning towards adoption. After about 5 months she gave me a month’s notice saying she was losing her housing and was unable to take Margo with her. During this time I had to move in with family in Florida and am unable to keep her with me. I had been working on private rehoming and reached out to rescues but was not able to find anything in time. I flew back to Arizona from Florida to pick Margo up and have been temporarily staying with friends while I find her a forever home. It’s been about 3 weeks and I don’t have the ability to be out of work for much longer. I truly love this animal and it has pained me not to be able to provide her the stable home she deserves. Margo is really a sweet dog but she has a lot of anxiety and has a strong protective nature. She does great with dogs in neutral spaces but is very protective of her home space and can’t share space with other dogs or small animals. She is wary of strangers in her space but with a proper introduction (giving her a treat or throwing her a toy) she will easily become acquainted. Margo would be a great companion to someone with a stable housing situation, a structured routine, a large secure space for her to run around, and someone who has experience with herding breeds. Due to her anxiety and not doing well with strangers, I can’t put her in a shelter. I have had a few tell me they may have to resort to extreme measures because of her temperament. Margo is a truly good dog who just needs the right person to show her the way. I am doing everything in my power to make sure she is okay and to know she is going to a good place. Sincerely, Casey Donahue. The adoption fee for dogs/puppies varies given age, breed, etc. All have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped.
