Slinky is currently in foster in Yelm, Washington. Slinky loves absolutely adores children. We had a home for this great dog, but they have allergies they did not know about, so we need a home with no dog or grass allergies (dogs bring in grass on their paws). His perfect home is a stay at home … parent with children and no other pets (including dogs). Also a fenced yard at least a 4 foot wooden fence (so he cant climb chain link). We don’t know if he is a climber but we never recommend a dog be in a yard with humans watching them anyway! He is potty trained, but seems to have a bit of a sensitive stomach, so probably should stick to straight dog food and be very cautious of anything else you feed him. (That’s true for nearly all dogs, but esp Slinky) He is incredibly incredibly good with children. The fosters says she has no idea how he is so patient with the kids! We have no reason to ever think about him doing anything to a child. He does like to play puppy bite, but he has never done it hard enough to hurt anyone. Ever. He loves everyone. He does not like dogs who are bigger than him and he pulls on the leash Both of which are just training. We can send info on training or we always recommend Patti Howard an excellent trainer who of course works remotely in Lacey, WA He is getting better though with every walk . He does bark at almost every person who walks by the house, but it seems to be alerting us rather than a menacing bark. Unless it’s a big dog. We think he is young enough that someone can easily train him to be around big dogs with time. We think a home without any chickens small critters or cats is best. We will send him off with his bed, dog food, toys, leash, harness, collar, dog shampoo, and of course all vet/medical records too. He loves to roll in the grass. He weighs roughly 33 pounds and he is basically pure love. He seems fine with a little outdoor play and a 1 mile walk a day. I have taken him on a few 3-mile walks and he has done fine as well on those. He likes to snooze on the couch and watch the world, but he seems most content being outside in the shade with us. He’s not a big fan of water we discovered, but he does tolerate baths well. He is still young and he could probably use some obedience training and will eat food if it is left on the coffee table unattended. We also recommend that he has a fenced yard. He has so far (but could perhaps? ) escape a four foot fence but so far that has contained him well. He doesn’t really seem to have separation anxiety where he is so we think with enough attention he will do fine when you leave. He really should be in a home with a yard, with children and a stay at home mom. He would NOT be a dog for someone who is gone at work or away a lot. He loves his humans. He does tend to sleep on our clean clothes if we aren’t careful if we leave him. I asked the neighbors if he barks or whines when we are gone and she said he only barks when he walks by, but otherwise he is quiet. Overall he is a really great dog. L&S Dog Diggity Rescue is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, where there are over 350,000 homeless pets. We save homeless and abandoned dogs and find them loving forever homes in other areas, where pet homelessness is not epidemic. All of our pets are located here, in San Antonio, and we partner with rescues to provide transportation for our pets to their new homes. Our adoption fee includes vet care (vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchipping, etc), as well as transportation and health certificate.
