Shirochan and his brother, Blue, came to us from the west side of Oahu. They were pulled from a homeless camp where they and 20 other dogs were living the entirety of their day in a tent. The vet believes he’s about 2 years old and he weighs 30lbs. Shirochan was in a bit better shape than his … brother when they arrived. He was neutered, dewormed, fed and was recovering from a recent broken jaw. Shirochan is different than his brother in that he is a fairly calm guy. He does get spooked with new people and has demonstrated he’s a flight risk when he is in the care of someone new. So, we believe it will be some time before he’ll comfortable with his adoptive family. Shiro walks very well on a leash and enjoys the company of other dogs. He’s a bit more social with dogs than Blue, but he struggles a bit more with humans. We don’t think Shiro would do well with small children as they move quickly and for him, that’s frightening. Shirochan loves to play with squeaky toys (and shred them), car rides, walks and hikes. He’s slowly being introduced to water, but hasn’t taken an immediate like for it. While in foster care, Shiro has learned some basic obedience (sit, down, shake and wait to be fed).
