Sanford

Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time. Sanford, 1.5 years old is a neutered male Labrador mix, and weighs 45 pounds. He is in a foster home … Houston, Texas and can transport to an approved adopter. Sanford is a young dog (we think he’s about 1-1.5 years old) who is very energetic. He shares a home with a 90-pound Mastiff mix who tends to be more alpha. Sanford plays really well with him! Sanford gives off that playful puppy exuberance. The other dog in the home is a little older and when he’s done playing; he lets Sanford know and politely finds something else to occupy his time. His foster mom has taken him to the dog park a few times and he really enjoys making friends and playing with other dogs. When leashed, he wants to greet other dogs with tail wagging. We think he would do great with another dog in the home, but not required. He also shares a home with a cat. He tried to sniff her the first few days in the home and she gave him a warning swat to the nose. They tend to give each other a wide berth when they have contact and he will sometimes bark at her. There are also teenagers in the home and he is happy to hang out. Since he does like to jump up and say hi, we recommend a home with kids 8 years and older. We have also noticed he tends to be a little weary of men at first and may take a little time to warm up. Sanford is house broken. He had a couple accidents the first few week in the foster home, but once learning the routine that has not been an issue. He does well when crated. He is walked several times a day. We would recommend an active home and/or a dog playmate. He enjoys things to chew on and will need to keep a eye on him. He loves to ride in the car. He has the cutest “boat” ears. He is a total love bug and really wants to please. Sanford would make a wonderful addition to your home. If you’re looking for a walking, running, hiking, and trail buddy – he’s your guy. If you’re looking for a family dog to join children or another dog – he’s your guy. He is an all-around really great dog. We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog’s exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time.
