About Rosie Posie – LOCAL
Meet-and-greets can be arranged with top listed applicants. Rosie is a 6-year-old Pittie mix, approx 45 lbs. Rosie grew up with a loving owner in Mexico but when her owner moved into a long-term care home, Rosie ended up at a shelter. The staff at the shelter described Rosie as very loving, … affectionate, and people-oriented. She liked the other dogs but was focused on getting attention from the humans! Rosie is now with a local foster family. She immediately warmed up to her foster parents and grew to trust them very quickly. She follows them around and shows them nothing but love. She thinks she’s a lap dog and wants to soak up all the cuddles & belly rubs. Since Rosie is all about her people, she wants nothing more than to please them. She is very responsive to teaching and learned the word sit in just a couple days! She likes going for walks and is awesome on the leash. One thing Rosie struggles with is jealousy toward the family’s resident dog. She behaves in a territorial/dominant way with their dog because she never had to share her house or humans with another dog before. She got used to being spoiled and getting all the attention at home in Mexico. When the resident dog comes too close, Rosie growls, shows her teeth, and nips. Her fosters are working on this behaviour with lots of training, teaching her that she is not the boss. However, Rosie is very good when she’s meeting new dogs in the community. She is not reactive or aggressive in any way. She is a bit timid but lets dogs sniff her and walks by them with no reaction. Rosie only seems to show territorial behaviour in her own house. Rosie is house trained and crate trained. She sleeps through the night without any whining or barking. She is calm and easygoing around the house. She doesn’t have any destructive behaviours. She doesn’t bark when people come to the door or when visitors enter the home. In a nutshell, Rosie just loves human company and affection. She would probably like to be the only dog in the family. Rosie will be a loyal, loving companion for the family that adopts her.
