Two-year-old Rocky is an amazing dog that joined us from a remote, fly-in only community in Northern Ontario. He is an absolutely stunning dog to see, and his heart is equally as stunning, as he’s the kindest boy. Rocky weighs in at 57 pounds, and is a medium size, knee height dog. He has a lot of … coat, so he’s a dog that will require regular grooming, so be sure you’re prepared for that commitment or grooming budget. Rocky is great with kids, people and all dogs he meets – just a true gem. He is not cat tested. We believe he’s a Husky/Golden Retriever mix, but we have absolutely no idea and that is purely just a guess. Rocky would do best with a work from home adopter or take your dog to work. He can be mischievous when being left alone and he is not crate trained. This dog is an absolutely amazing dog and will be the greatest companion to someone waiting for a great outdoor adventure partner. Rocky will not be suitable for a condo, as he loves to hang out, outside, so a home with a fenced backyard is needed to keep this good boy happiest. FROM HIS FOSTER MOM: – Rocky’s a big beautiful teddy bear, sweetheart who loves being outside. He likes being outside so much he sometimes whines to go outside just to take a nap in the yard. He loves being pet and enjoys his daily brushing. – He’s easy to walk, he doesn’t pull much, and he’ll go whatever pace you go. He zig zags a lot and gets so excited by seeing squirrels that he’ll do a little jump, but he doesn’t pull once he reaches the end of his leash. – He gets along well with all sizes of dogs, from our big doodle to friends’ little dogs. Our doodle is very playful and has tried to get Rocky to play with him but he shows no interest in engaging in play or toys (unless you throw a ball hard enough, but he’ll just chase it and leave it once it stops moving). – He has never shown any signs of being reactive, if anything he’ll just be submissive. – He seems to be house trained, prefers to relieve himself on walks but when he can’t hold it anymore he’ll start pacing around the house and understands to go outside when we go to open the door. – When left alone for a short time with our dog, Rocky attempted to get into human food and destroyed a pita packet, but no pee or poop accidents. As of today, though our protocols could change tomorrow, we are still moving forward with adoptions. Our process has changed from some of the previous elements: We are a registered animal welfare organization, so we are deemed an essential service. All paperwork completed online, video home visits, meet and greets outside respecting social distancing, leashes/collars/supplies wiped down and disinfected (GermiCide 3 wipes), disinfectant on the dog prior to handoff (Aqueos wipes for dogs). To note: the above description is relevant to this dog in his current & previous setting. Home changes & adopter personalities can bring out different behaviors not previously seen. We also do not claim, endorse, suggest or hint at, that any of our dogs are hypoallergenic, low shed or no-shed. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, deworming, flea/tick prevention, vaccinations, food, nose-to-tail health exam, dog beds, toys, leash| collar, go home preventative based on season and custom dog tag.
