Reno – In a Victoria foster

Home Dog Adoption Reno - In a Victoria foster

About Reno – In a Victoria foster

UPDATE: Our boy Reno is still on the hunt for his forever home. Reno is one super sweet boy when he trusts you. Self isolation is totally his thing, too many people is just not for this guy. After arriving in BC Reno had a major dental done which is why he looks like an adorable Mexican beagle lizard. If you love dogs but not their kisses then this is your boy, his tongue only goes sideways. Reno has been living with Ron from Last Chance Training Services in Victoria BC for some time now and has come a long way. Reno needs a calm home with someone that is able to understand his social challenges and help keep him moving forward.
ORIGINAL POST: Our boy Reno is looking for his forever home. After a failed adoption due to some issues Reno had developed during his transition to his new country, he was put with a friend Ron for intensive training. He did and is still doing great. He has been ready for adoption for a while now, however Reno will need a very experienced owner and a great match isn’t always easy to find. Reno is a good fun loving dog. He enjoys playing with most other dogs. He can be very affectionate and will happily cuddle on the couch to nap with his humans. Reno can be quite vocal when left alone, so either an owner who is home would be good, or some alternative techniques would have to be considered for him when he is left home alone to minimize barking. He also can be left home as long as he has had some exercise first. Reno travels well and enjoys his truck rides. Reno is extremely leery of nervous anxious humans and if they press him to interact with him he does express fight as opposed to flight, so would need owners who do not push him to have interactions with people he is not comfortable with. He can also get over excited when meeting someone new and will nip them if he is not monitored and corrected as his level of excitement rises. He is a quick learner and thrives under clear and consistent Leadership with crisp rules boundaries and limitations. Reno would not do well in a home with children or as the first dog for someone. He requires an experienced handler. A family with another dog would be fine after proper introductions. Reno is an affectionate dog and just requires owners who can help guide him and encourage him to continue improving and working through his struggles.
