Poncho

About Poncho

“Hi everyone! My name is Poncho. I am a 16-month-old, neutered, Chihuahua mix. Until the recent snow, I was house trained. Now, the snow impedes my efforts whenever I squat to potty. My foster mom and I are working together to resolve this issue. I am kennel trained and love car rides. I put the party in animal. People of all ages, and sizes, are my friends. Other dogs, no matter the size, or breed, get along with me. How do I get along with cats? No clue. I haven’t interacted with any cats. I am peppy, happy, and keep myself occupied by chewing on my squeaky toys! Heavy is the mantle of duty and responsibility as the self-appointed head of security for the home and neighborhood. I am alert to any nefarious activity by the squirrels, birds, and other critters. It is important for me to have windows to look out of in order to monitor neighborhood activity. My needs and want are few. Squeaky toys, comfy throw pillows, your lap/chair/couch, and Pup Peroni treats make me happy. I have a very discriminating palate when it comes to treats. Milk Bones? No thank you! Dog cookies. Yuk! Whatever you’re eating? Yes, please!!! I have perfected my begging puppy dog eyes and sad face. You must be strong! No human food, or an overabundance of treats. Otherwise, I will lose my svelte 10-pound body and become a chubby Chihuahua!! If you are looking for a loving, funny, lap dog and protector, I may be the dog for you!! If you want to know more about me, or would like to meet me, you can reach my foster mom at: [email protected]” Adoption fee is $500 (no checks). Our fosters do the best they can to provide all information about the animal’s background and temperament while in foster care in their home. An adopter’s routine and home environment is likely going to be different than that in their foster home. Sometimes there is more that comes out about a dog’s personality once they have been able to settle in a home & truly become comfortable. Last Hope, Inc. is an all-volunteer, foster based, no kill rescue! You can see almost all of our dogs on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month from 11 am – 2 pm at Lakeville PetSmart (located by Hy-Vee just off 160th & Pilot Knob). Policies: You do not have to have a fence to adopt a dog from us, but some dogs will require a fence or acres to play, or an active family who will make sure the dog gets the exercise it needs to be happy. Some dogs do not have the temperament that will do well with young children. The adoption fee is not enough to cover the vet bills. Sales tax of almost 7.25% is also included in the adoption fee that you see. Please consider donating to Last Hope to help us save these animals! Can you foster? By taking a dog or puppies temporarily into your home and then coming to our adoption days to help find them homes, we can save more! If you’re interested, please email our office at [email protected] and give us your contact information and what you would like to foster and someone will get back to you!
