Parker is a 5-year-old, neutered hound mix male, 63 lbs. He is currently in a foster home in Renton WA. Parker’s most distinguishing characteristics is that he is so loving and affectionate! Parker wants to be with you. He wants to be doing what you are doing. He’s a jump up in the truck and go for … a hike kind of dog and with great recall his family can look forward to endless adventures. He is very friendly and seems to like all people, but like many bigger dogs, he doesn’t really realize his size and will easily bowl things over (like small kids). He must have been trained in the past to give hugs, so when he’s happy or anxious he jumps up and gently wraps his front legs around your waist or places them gently on your shoulders. He tends to bolt/pull hard when the door is opened, despite quite a bit of focused training on this. He doesn’t go anywhere once he’s outside, just really wants to go thru the door. Also, on walks he pulls hard at first, but settles down after a bit of reminding about manners. He plays great with the foster’s smaller/anxious dog and with other dogs at the dog park. He is not super dominant and not super submissive. Just does his thing. He does not guard his food or toys, even from our other dog. They’ll eat out of the same bowl simultaneously if you let them. He is moderately active and enjoys a couple good hard play sessions and walks a day. He likes fetch and tug. We have no history with cats. We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog’s exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. The first step in our process is filling out an application. We will review your application as soon as we are able- there are two of us and we do the best that we can. We review applications on a first come first serve basis and look for the best fit/match for the dog and applicant. Out-of-town pets are cared for by non-local organizations who can make arrangements for the pet to be transported to your area.
