Mama came from a hoarding situation and as such is just beginning her training to be a good canine citizen. This sweet young girl who longs for affection is around 1 1/2 years old, weighs 14 lbs. We think she is a Patterdale/Schipperke mix with a bit of Jagdterrier thrown in. These breeds are known … to be working terriers and Mama is very energetic when playing and always on the lookout for small prey when outside. She seems like a smart girl who will eventually learn the fun of being leashed and going for walks. Right now, she is happy to view the world from her dog stroller. Mama is scared of most people and dogs so she needs someone who is willing to be patient with her and teach her socialization skills, and someone very active, of course. A yard with a tall fence is a must for this escape artist. No apartment dwellers will be considered as she can be vocal when shes afraid or not able to be by your side. This is one of the behaviors we are working to correct by distracting her and showering her with love and praise. She may also feel that she is protecting her puppy. Mama loves food and toys and is not aggressive or possessive with either one. Mama has been microchipped, is up-to-date on shots and she will be spayed soon. If you are interested in meeting Mama- contact the Alternative Humane Society by filling out a Statement of Interest. All meet and greets are done outdoors, using social distancing guidelines and wearing masks.
