I am one of the 119 dogs who were surrendered to the BC SPCA earlier this year. I have been busy since they brought me into care. I have had medical care, lots of health checks and I have been working hard to learn new life skills with the staff. Please read about me below to see if I’m a good match for you. A few things about me: I am not housetrained. This might be very frustrating for you and it will be like having a new puppy. This means taking me out every hour, rewarding me when I go to the bathroom where I should and providing me with a dog proofed area inside if I can’t be watched for cues that it is time to go outside. I really don’t want to get in trouble for having accidents inside while I learn (I really do not know any better yet) and if this is a concern to you, please consider another dog rather than me! I will get there, but I will make mistakes. I love other dogs. That’s what I’ve always known, so I really love to play and be around them. If you have a friendly dog in the home, that would be amazing! I would love to live with another dog. I’ve never been around kids before. To be honest, I’m a bit timid with new people as I’ve had limited contact with humans. Despite lots of time and work with my friends at the shelter, I’m still just needing some time before I launch into regular life, so I’m not sure that I want to be around kids at this time. They don’t always understand me, and I don’t want to be scared. I like adult humans and I like them gentle! I’d also like to remind you that I’ve had little experience with leash walking, car rides, normal walks and just life in general. I’m a super resilient and brave dog, but I would like to ask for a guardian who is ready for slow and steady. I’d also like to make sure that you’re hiring a trainer who is AnimalKind accredited. This way I know that when I’m learning from a trainer; they will use kind techniques and won’t scare me or punish me. My friends at the shelter can give you more information about this. I’m 4 years old and weigh 9kg.” Animal has been spayed.
