Due to Covid restrictions, you must be able to meet at the Peace Arch Park to coordinate transfer. Fargo is currently in Houston, TX and can transport to an approved adopter. He is a 1.5 years old, Shepherd mix. Fargo is a handsome male who weighs about 60 lbs. This amazing dog was found wandering … around a neighborhood. His finders looked for an owner, but no one was found so they reached out to us for help in find him his forever home! Fargo is currently in a foster home with other dogs and plays great with them! Fargo has not met any cats and we are not sure how he would do with them. Fargo has not been around young kids, but the foster’s adult son has a medical condition and he is very gentle with him, not jumping up and waits to be petted. Due to Fargo’s size and energy level (he does still want to jump when he first sees the foster but responds to down and sit), we recommend a home with children 12 years and older. Fargo could use some practice on leash as he tends to pull and is strong. He rides in the car really well, mostly sitting up in the seat like a person. He knows a few commands and is housebroken. The current foster home has a 5-foot fence that he has almost been able to jump over. Fargo will need a 6-foot fence or higher to ensure he doesn’t get out. He loves treats and he takes them very gently. He loves peanuts and will eat them gently out of your hand like a horse. Due to his history of being on the streets, we recommend that Fargo be fed separately from other dogs in the home. Fargo is very loving; he loves giving kisses and getting belly rubs. He also loves to have between his eyes rubbed sometimes as it will put him to sleep. Fargo is a young active dog who will need a secure yard or an active home. He will need some support on leash training. Fargo will need time to decompress and settle into a new home. We are taking our best guess on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog’s exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. The first step in our process is filling out an application. We will review your application as soon as we are able- there are two of us and we do the best that we can. We review applications on a “first come, first serve” basis and look for the best fit/match for dog and applicant. Out-of-town pets are cared for by non-local organizations who can make arrangements for the pet to be transported to your area.
