Eddie Eeyore (LJM)

Home Dog Adoption Eddie Eeyore (LJM)

About Eddie Eeyore (LJM)

Eddie was found in a shelter unable to use his rear leg. He was too skinny and his spine was showing. Three Little Pitties took a chance, picked him up and got him to the vet. He was shy for the first ten minutes with his foster mom, then started giving her kisses and trying to ride home on her lap. Eddie Eeyore looked so sad – ‘Eeyore’ seemed to fit his circumstance. Once at the vet – we found out he had an old, healed injury. His hip bones had been crushed, fractured and left to heal in pieces. Likely the result of being hit by a car and left to drag himself around. Eddie enjoyed resting on a dog bed at his foster home and prepared for surgery. He was nuetered then FHO to remove the bone pieces left in his hip. He was given strict ‘no jumping’ orders from the vet – so he slept comfortablity in his foster mom’s bed and took frequent walks. As he gained weight, he gained musle and started using both rear legs. He likes to run the yard with ‘alpha’ female dogs of any size – when he gets too rough, they growl at him and he listens. He can be a bit of a bully with male dogs or young males. He is sweet and gentle with puppies. He has not been cat tested (yet) Once Eddie Eeyore started running – yes running – we never saw him sad again. He took to being called Eddie and starting basic training. Eddie is healthy, muscular, full of life, fully of puppy play and little restraint. He is learning to not jump on people, not use his teeth to play or bark at other dogs. He does best with assertive females to ‘mother’ him and males who will also treat him like the puppy brain he is. Due to his size and lack of socialization, Eddie needs a family who will commit to training him – correcting him – loving him – snuggling him – treating him like the teenager he is. Eddie will sleep in all morning if allowed in the bed. He likes showing off his surgery scar, hoping for kisses and sympathy but he is fully healed and has no restrictions. He can live a long big life. Bulldogs fall into the guardian class of dogs; bulldogs can be docile, but capable and protective, fearless and athletic, fierce-looking, determined and courageous, bold and friendly around their family and friends, but fearless adversaries to anyone who threatens their masters or property. They should be taught basic obience and supervised with strangers. Big dog / Bulldog experience is a plus. Eddie loves people.
